Safeguarding & Professional Standards
Northern Forge recognises that safeguarding and the welfare of children are of paramount importance when working within schools. All workshops are delivered with a strong awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the host school.
Northern Forge is committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
DBS Certification
The presenter delivering Northern Forge workshops holds an Enhanced DBS check.
Documentation can be provided to schools in advance of a visit if required.
Safeguarding Awareness
Northern Forge understands the safeguarding responsibilities involved when working with children in educational settings.
When delivering workshops in schools:
The school’s safeguarding procedures and visitor policies will always be followed.
Staff will remain present with pupils throughout sessions.
Northern Forge does not take responsibility for supervising pupils outside the structured workshop activities.
Any safeguarding concerns observed during a visit will be reported immediately to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in accordance with school procedures.
Professional Conduct
Northern Forge is committed to maintaining a professional and appropriate learning environment during all school visits.
This includes:
Maintaining respectful and age-appropriate communication with pupils
Following the behaviour expectations set by the host school
Ensuring workshop content is suitable for primary school pupils
Workshops are designed to be engaging while remaining appropriate for the age and understanding of Key Stage 2 learners.
Risk Awareness
Workshops are designed to be safe and appropriate for classroom or hall environments.
Northern Forge:
Uses replica artefacts designed for educational use
Avoids hazardous materials or equipment
Ensures activities are suitable for primary school settings
Schools remain responsible for general supervision of pupils and management of their behaviour during sessions.
Risk assessments can be provided if required.
Insurance
Northern Forge holds Public Liability Insurance for the delivery of educational workshops in schools.
Documentation can be supplied upon request.
Working With Schools
Northern Forge works collaboratively with schools to ensure visits run safely and smoothly. Prior to a visit, schools are welcome to discuss any specific safeguarding or logistical requirements.
