ABOUT THE FORGE

The Forge Mission Statement:

What’s in a name?

Let’s take the words individually. We picked Northern quite simply because that is where we are from, where the company is based, and primarily where we operate around, though we are by no means limited to working in the north of England.

That’s pretty straight forward, but why Forge? Well besides the literal meaning of making items from metal, or selling forged swords (which we do), we chose Forge to represent our mission to shape young minds, to entertain and educate people in various periods and themes in history. Aside from our schools work we also create, or choreograph, a lot in the way of theatrical combat and performances for stage and screen.

Through time spent in schools, and performances at site specific historic locations, we aim to engage, inform and develop young and old minds alike. To us we are not just creating in metal, we are interpreting and recreating aspects of times gone by to develop and expand minds, and hopefully create an interest in our shared past.  Who knows, perhaps we’ll inspire the next generation of historians, archaeologists, and possibly actors, through our endeavours.
