Original York Walks
Running since January 2015, join Njál on our award-winning tour of the ancient Capital of the North, known to the Vikings as Jorvik, and hear about the city's Anglo-Scandinavian & Norman past as we take in various historic sites along the way. Many people know that the Vikings had a big influence on York but very few realise just how big an influence. Hear about the deeds of Ivar the Boneless, Erik Bloodaxe, and Harald Hardrada. Learn how the streets got their names and what they mean; discover how those pesky Pagans shaped the Christian church; and wonder how those naughty Normans ever survived in the north in spite of themselves. The Original Roman Walk
New for 2026, the Original Roman Walk! We are currently scouting the ancient city of Eboracum to find the best spots for our upcoming Original Roman Walk, and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed with this guided tour of Roman York. Join our off-duty legionary soldier and hear about the 9th and 6th Legions, Emperor Constantine the Great, and Eboracum's own Gladiators.
