Large Irish Ring Pin - Jorvik

The Irish Ring Pin was a popular style of brooch originating in Ireland but making its way throughout Britain and Europe due to the excellent trade routes taken by the Vikings.

This particular ring pin is a replica of one found at the original Viking Dig at Coppergate in York - once the great Viking city of Jorvik - find number 10478.

Indeed the Jorvik Viking Centre (York, UK) proudly uses Northern Forge's replicas for fastening their Interactive Team's cloaks; we also count Shetland Museum & Archives/Shetland Amenity Trust amongst our valued customers.

Note the squared cross section at either end, circular cross section in the middle, and the incised detail; just like the original.
Can be fastened with finger knitting, lucet or leather thonging.

Pin length - 13.7cm (5")
Pin width - 4mm (1/8")
Ring diameter - 2cm (6/8")

All of Northern Forge's Ring Pins are handmade so slight variation in form and design may occur from piece to piece.
